Who knew that a person could actually miss showering with shoes on?
At college, one thing that is on the packing list, or at least one thing that is definitely recommended to bring, are shower shoes.
They don't have to be fancy. They don't have to be cute. Just something sufficient enough to protect your feet from the harmful and disgusting floors of the college dorm bathrooms. Something to get the job done.
I take pride in mine. They are different from everyone else's. They are vintage and worn. They were a smart purchase made when I was 13, and I have never regretted it.
They are navy blue boy Crocs with a red and white striped sole. There are pros and cons to using them of course, as there are with any object.
Pros:
they're cute
they're water proof
they have holes to get the water out
Cons:
they have holes to get the water out
they squeak
they are two sizes too small
I have to dump them out after using them to ensure that all the water is out of them and I have to do it 2-3 times on my way back to my room but it's so worth it. I wouldn't want it any other way.
When I'm home and I don't have to put on my shoes before stepping into the shower, I feel like I'm missing something. Like I'm missing a step. An integral part of my shower routine.
I guess I could bring them home with me next time. Maybe I will.
